1. Evolutionary Design (4 in 1)
How does the Slatted Bed work and from what age can I use it?
The Slatted Bed features evolutionary engineering designed to accompany your child for up to 18 years. The same structure goes through 4 distinct phases:
- Phase 1 - Sofa Bed (0 to 1 year):Support and comfort point for parents in the baby's room.
- Phase 2 - Montessori (1 to 5 years):Close to the floor, encouraging autonomy with complete safety.
- Phase 3 - Complete (5 to 8 years):Elevated with the reinstallation of the feet and protected by the slatted rails.
- Phase 4 - Standard Bed (+8 years):Without the rails, it becomes a classic bed ready for adolescence and adulthood.
From what age can my child use the bed?
From birth. In Phase 1, it functions as a support sofa bed in the baby's room for breastfeeding and parents' rest. Your child starts sleeping in it from the moment you decide to start the transition to their room.
My child is still in the crib — when should I transition them to the bed?
The ideal moment varies for each family, but the technical recommendation is to make the transition from 1 year old, or as soon as the child starts showing signs that they want to climb out or jump over the crib rails. The Slatted Bed makes this process extremely safe in Phase 2 (Montessori), staying close to the floor to completely eliminate the risk of falls.
Do the rails and feet come with the bed?
Yes. The bed is delivered 100% completewith all structural items included. You receive the base, the feet, and all the necessary rails to perform the 4 transformations of the furniture, with no hidden costs.
Can I just buy the structure and add the accessories (feet and rails) later?
You don't need to worry about this, as all the evolutionary components (feet and all rails) are already included in the original bed package. The only optional items sold separately are the storage drawersand the trundle bed, which can be purchased separately to complement your project.
My child is already over 5 years old. Is the investment still worth it?
Absolutely. From 5 years old, the furniture goes directly into Phase 3 (elevated with rails) and then migrates to Phase 4 (standard bed), ensuring more than a decade of continuous use with a single definitive piece.
2. Structure, Safety and Finish
Does the bed have any MDF parts in its structure?
Definitely not. Our furniture is 100% MDF-free.
Unlike the conventional market that uses derivatives that crumble over time, the Slatted Bed is sculpted entirely from 4 cm thick Taeda Solid Wood. A monumental structural robustness, made to withstand assembly and disassembly for generations without losing firmness.
What wood is used?
We work exclusively with Taedasolid wood. As it is one of the rare structural species in the world — with superior density and hardness — it delivers an impeccable finish. It is the raw material for authorial furniture and high-standard exports from Brazil to the USA and Europe.
Isn't Taeda Pine?
No, there's a technical abyss between them.Although they share the same botanical family (Pinaceae), the family genetics don't dictate the material's quality. The legendary Riga Pine — the gold of the noblest woods in European architecture — belongs to this same family.
The difference is practical: common pine is a soft, utilitarian wood for crates. Our Southern Taeda, however, is a high-engineering, ultra-resistant wood. It's a conscious luxury: premium raw material, 100% renewable and FSC certified.
Is the bed completely safe for my baby?
Safety is our non-negotiable standard through two absolute fronts:
- ABNT Standard Safety:The spacing of the rails strictly follows the guidelines for children's furniture, eliminating risks of entrapment.
- Passive Protection (Zero Sharp Edges):All edges and parts have perfectly rounded corners to care for the child at all times.
Can I buy an extra rail to fully close the side of the bed during sleep?
No. The side opening gap is intentional and essential for the development of autonomy. Completely closing the bed creates a feeling of confinement that induces the child to try to climb and jumpover the structure to get out, which poses real risks of accidents. The open space allows them to enter and exit safely and naturally.
Can I request the rails to be manufactured at a greater height?
No. The Slatted Bed rails have the ideal height calculated by engineering and neuropediatrics. The function of the rail is not to "trap" or enclose the child, but to offer a passive barrier to prevent involuntary falls while they sleep. If the rail were higher, should the child try to jump or climb the furniture while awake, the impact of a fall from up high would be much more severe. Our standard height perfectly balances nocturnal protection and the prevention of severe accidents.
Can the paint or varnish scratch or be harmful to respiratory health?
Not at all. We use premium Aliphatic Painttechnology, which does not yellow and has very high scratch resistance. It is 100% non-toxicand fully cured in the factory: it does not release residues or invisible gases, ensuring pure air in the room.
Does the bed support an adult's weight?
Yes. The robust 4 cm solid wood structure provides impeccable resistance for daily use by the entire family. The Twin version supports up to 120 kgand the Full version supports up to 150 kg, allowing parents to lie down with total stability and safety.
Are the wood and paint colors exactly the same as in the photo?
Not exactly. The beauty of high-end carpentry lies in exclusivity: because we use natural solid wood in the structure, there are normal variations in grain, texture, and shades — which proves that your piece is unique, not a mass-produced plastic print. Additionally, the perception of the tone may vary depending on your screen's calibration and the ambient lighting.
Is it possible to customize the bed dimensions?
No. Our high standard is non-negotiable in a production line under millimeter engineering, without improvisation or adaptations. We spend months designing and exhaustively testing physical prototypes before releasing them for manufacturing. Having a strict production standard guarantees the safety and maximum structural rigor of the furniture.
3. Measurements and Mattress
Do you sell mini-beds? Twin or Full: which should I choose?
We do not work with narrow mini-beds, as they nullify the concept of long-term investment. We offer two definitive sizes:
- Standard Twin (For mattress 188 × 88 × 14 cm):Universal comfort for all ages, eliminating early mattress replacement.
- Full (For mattress 188 × 128 × 14 cm):The dream space for sleeping together or reading stories, maintaining an intelligent proportion that preserves room circulation.
I want to lie down with my child to rock them or read. Does parents' weight matter when choosing density?
If you only temporarily lie down with your child to read a story or rock them, the density should be chosen exclusively based on the child's weight. High-performance foam supports adult weight and returns to its original state. However, if the intention is to share the bed (sleep all night frequently), we recommend intermediate density D28. Being considered a hybrid option, it provides the perfect balance: it ensures structural support for the adult without losing essential comfort for the child.
Are the heights of the main mattress (14 cm) and the trundle mattress (12 cm) not too low? Isn't it uncomfortable?
Not at all. In high-end carpentry and pediatrics, comfort and support do not come from the physical height of the block, but from the quality and density of the foam.
- On the Main Bed (14 cm):The thickness is designed to ensure the exact orthopedic alignment of the child and, primarily, to preserve the usable safety height of the protective rails. Excessively high mattresses reduce the effectiveness of the rails and are contraindicated.
- On the Trundle Bed (12 cm):Even at 12 cm, when configured in densities D28 or D33, this mattress accommodates adults with extreme comfortand absolute support. Cleide's high-tech foam eliminates the need for gigantic, soft blocks that deform quickly.
Can I use a taller mattress on the main bed?
Yes, respecting a maximum limit of 16 cmin thickness. This technical specification is strict and mandatory to maintain the safety of the protective rails. Mattresses taller than 16 cm place the top too close to the rail limit, drastically reducing the effectiveness of the protective barrier against falls.
Is there a trundle bed version? How does the transformation work?
Yes, we have the version with a trundle bed (sold separately). It fits perfectly under the main structure and slides on built-in casters that won't scratch the floor.
- Engineering note:The trundle bed is compatible with the elevated phases of the furniture (Phases 1, 3, and 4). In Phase 2 (Montessori), being close to the floor, the trundle bed must be stored separately until the furniture is elevated again.
Is the mattress included in the price?
The mattress is not included. At the time of purchase, you can choose to buy only the bed or add the ideal Cleide orthopedic mattress to your cart (in D23, D28, or D33 densities).
4. Freight Logistics and Support
Do you offer assembly services?
We offer optional assembly service (with additional cost) exclusive to São Paulo and Greater São Paulo. For other regions of Brazil, our team of consultants provides guidance on trusted partner professionals in your locality.
