1. The Evolutionary Design (4 in 1)
How does the Palito Bed work and from what age can I use it?
The Palito Bed features an evolutionary design engineered to accompany your child for up to 18 years. The same structure goes through 4 distinct phases:
- Phase 1 - Sofa Bed (0 to 1 year):A comfortable support point for parents in the baby's room.
- Phase 2 - Montessori (1 to 5 years):Close to the floor, encouraging autonomy with complete safety.
- Phase 3 - Full (5 to 8 years):Elevated with the reinstallation of the feet and protected by the Palito rails.
- Phase 4 - Standard Bed (+8 years):Without the rails, it becomes a classic bed ready for adolescence and adulthood.
From what age can my child use the bed?
From birth. In Phase 1, it functions as a sofa bed for support in the baby's room for feeding and parental rest. Your child can start sleeping in it from the moment you decide to begin the transition to their room.
My child is still in the crib - when should I transition to the bed?
The ideal time varies for each family, but the technical recommendation is to make the transition from 1 year old, or as soon as the child begins to show signs that they want to climb out or jump over the crib rails. The Palito Bed makes this process extremely safe in Phase 2 (Montessori), staying low to the ground to completely eliminate the risk of falls.
Are the rails and feet included with the bed?
Yes. The bed is delivered 100% completewith all structural items included. You receive the base, the feet, and all the necessary rails to perform the 4 transformations of the furniture, with no hidden costs.
Can I just buy the structure and add the accessories (feet and rails) later?
You don't need to worry about that, as all evolutionary components (feet and all rails) are already included in the bed's original package. The only optional items sold separately are the organizer drawersand the trundle bed, which can be purchased separately to complement your project.
My child is already over 5 years old. Is the investment still worth it?
Absolutely. From 5 years old, the furniture goes directly into Phase 3 (elevated with rails) and then migrates to Phase 4 (standard bed), ensuring over a decade of continuous use with a single, definitive piece.
2. Structure, Safety, and Finish
Does the bed have any MDF parts in its structure?
Absolutely not. Our furniture is 100% MDF-free.
Unlike the conventional market that uses derivatives that crumble over time, the Palito Bed is sculpted entirely from solid Taeda wood, 4 cm thick. A monumental structural robustness, made to withstand assembly and disassembly for generations without losing firmness.
What kind of wood is used?
We work exclusively with solid Taedawood. As one of the rare structural species in the world—with superior density and hardness—it delivers an impeccable finish. It is the raw material for authorial furniture and high-standard exports from Brazil to the USA and Europe.
Is Taeda not Pine?
No, there is a technical abyss between them.Although they share the same botanical family (the Pinaceae), the family genetics do not dictate the material quality. The legendary Riga Pine—the gold of the noblest woods in European architecture—belongs to this same family.
The difference is practical: common pine is a soft, utilitarian wood for crates. Our Southern Taeda, on the other hand, is a high-engineering, ultra-resistant wood. It's a conscious luxury: premium raw material, 100% renewable and FSC certified.
Is the bed completely safe for my baby?
Safety is our non-negotiable standard through two absolute fronts:
- ABNT Standard Safety:The spacing of the rails strictly follows the guidelines for children's furniture, eliminating risks of entrapment.
- Passive Protection (Zero Sharp Edges):All edges and parts have perfectly rounded corners to care for the child at all times.
Can I buy an extra rail to fully close the side of the bed during sleep?
No. The side opening gap is intentional and essential for the development of autonomy. Completely closing the bed creates a feeling of confinement that induces the child to try to climb and jumpout of the structure, which creates real risks of accidents. The open space allows them to enter and exit safely and naturally.
Can I request the rails to be manufactured at a greater height?
No. The rails of the Palito Bed have the ideal height calculated by engineering and neuropediatrics. The function of the rail is not to "trap" or enclose the child, but rather to offer a passive barrier to prevent involuntary falls while they sleep. If the rail were higher, if the child tried to jump or climb the furniture while awake, the impact of a fall from up there would be much more severe. Our standard height perfectly balances night protection and the prevention of severe accidents.
Can the paint or varnish scratch or harm respiratory health?
Not at all. We use premium Aliphatic Painttechnology, which does not yellow and has very high scratch resistance. It is 100% non-toxicand fully cured in the factory: it does not release residues and does not emit invisible gases, ensuring clean air in the room.
Can the bed support the weight of an adult?
Yes. The robust 4 cm solid wood structure delivers impeccable resistance for daily use by the entire family. The Twin version supports up to 120 kgand the Full version supports up to 150 kg, allowing parents to lie down with total stability and safety.
Is the color of the wood and paint exactly the same as in the photo?
Not exactly. The beauty of high-end joinery lies in its exclusivity: because we use natural solid wood in the structure, there are normal variations in grain, texture, and tones — which proves that your piece is unique, and not a serially printed plastic. Furthermore, the perception of the tone may vary according to your screen calibration and the ambient lighting.
Is it possible to customize the bed's dimensions?
No. Our high standard is non-negotiable in a production line under millimeter engineering, without improvisations or adaptations. We spend months designing and exhaustively testing physical prototypes before releasing them for manufacturing. Having a strict production standard is what guarantees the furniture's safety and maximum structural rigor.
3. Dimensions and Mattress
Do you sell mini-beds? Twin or Full: which should I choose?
We do not work with narrow mini-beds, as they negate the concept of long-term investment. We offer two definitive sizes:
- Standard Twin (For mattress 188 × 88 × 14 cm):Universal comfort for all ages, eliminating early mattress replacement.
- Full (For mattress 188 × 128 × 14 cm):The dream space for sleeping together or reading stories, maintaining a smart proportion that preserves room circulation.
I want to lie down with my child to lull or read. Does parents' weight matter when choosing the density?
If you only lie down with your child temporarily to read a story or lull them, the density should be chosen exclusively based on the child's weight. The high-performance foam supports the adult's weight and returns to its original state. However, if the intention is to share the bed (sleep all night frequently), we recommend intermediate density D28. Being considered a hybrid option, it delivers the perfect balance: it ensures structural support for the adult without losing essential comfort for the child.
Are the heights of the main mattress (14 cm) and the trundle mattress (12 cm) not too low? Isn't it uncomfortable?
Not at all. In high-end carpentry and pediatrics, comfort and support do not come from the physical height of the block, but from the quality and density of the foam.
- On the Main Bed (14 cm):The thickness is planned to ensure the child's exact orthopedic alignment and, mainly, to preserve the useful safety height of the protective rails. Excessively high mattresses reduce the efficiency of the rails and are not recommended.
- On the Trundle Bed (12 cm):Even at 12 cm, when configured in D28 or D33densities, this mattress accommodates adults with extreme comfortand absolute support. Cleide foam's high technology eliminates the need for gigantic and soft blocks that deform quickly.
Can I use a taller mattress on the main bed?
Yes, respecting the maximum limit of 16 cmin thickness. This technical specification is strict and mandatory to maintain the safety of the protective rails. Mattresses with a height greater than 16 cm leave the top too close to the rail limit, drastically reducing the efficiency of the protective barrier against falls.
Is there a trundle bed version? How does the transformation work?
Yes, we have the version with a trundle bed (sold separately). It fits perfectly under the main structure and slides on built-in casters that won't scratch the floor.
- Engineering note:The trundle bed is compatible with the elevated phases of the furniture (Phase 1, 3, and 4). In Phase 2 (Montessori), being close to the floor, the trundle bed must be stored separately until the furniture is elevated again.
Is the mattress included in the price?
The mattress is not included. At the time of purchase, you can choose to buy only the bed or add the ideal Cleide orthopedic mattress to your cart (in D23, D28, or D33 densities).
