Checklist Quarto dos Sonhos

Dream Bedroom Checklist

Anxiety hits, the heart races, and that urge to prepare everything with great love and care takes over. Yes, the baby is on the way! And, with it, comes that irresistible desire to buy everything you see, after all, who doesn't like to buy a bunch of beautiful and cute things for the baby's layette, right?!

It's a magical moment, of daydreaming and creating a perfect little corner to welcome the new family member. But, so that the excitement doesn't turn into a headache when it comes to organizing the space and the budget, having a practical, organized and objective list is key.

It doesn't matter if you're a first-time or experienced mom: this checklist will help you put together your little one's layette safely, without spending on items that can be left for later.

And a special spoiler for you, who love what Afetto prepares with such care: the Nursing Armchair and the Crib of your dreams arrive in October! Stay tuned to get yours.

Shall we get to what matters? Prepare your heart and come check out our checklist!

1. Convertible crib

A classic that never goes out of style, right? Neither does the crib that combines emotional memory and timeless design to welcome your baby with elegance. It's the center of the room, the place where the first naps – and sleepless nights – will happen. Therefore, choosing a crib that is safe, functional and, of course, beautiful, is essential.

Made of solid wood and with non-toxic paint, our cribs ensure stability, durability and peace of mind for parents. The adjustable base in three heights accompanies the baby's growth, offering practicality in everyday life and comfort in each phase. And the best part: they were designed to harmonize perfectly with the other furniture in the room.

2. Dresser

The dresser is the great ally of organization in the baby's room. And believe me, you'll need a lot of space to store all the clothes, diapers, towels and blankets that the little one will use. To help with this mission, Afetto has two charming options: the Poema Dresser and the Brisa Dresser.

The difference is in the details: the Brisa enchants with its smooth sides and slatted drawers, while the Poema draws attention with its sides adorned with stacked spheres, bringing a playful three-dimensionality.

3. Pillow

Here, a very important warning! For newborns, a pillow is, in most cases, dispensable and even discouraged by pediatricians, as it can pose a safety risk during sleep. The recommendation is for the baby to sleep on their back on a firm, flat surface. However, as the baby grows (usually after the first year), an appropriate pillow can be introduced. When the time comes, choose an anti-allergy model, at the right height for the baby's shoulder, and with filling that offers support without sinking.

4. Auxiliary light

Early mornings with a newborn baby are a reality for almost all parents. And turning on the main room light in the middle of the night for a diaper change or feeding can be quite uncomfortable, both for parents and for the baby, who may wake up completely. An auxiliary light, such as a table lamp with a dimmer (which allows you to adjust the intensity) or an LED lamp with warm light, is perfect. It provides enough illumination for night care without disturbing the sleep and tranquility of the environment.

5. Hygiene kit

Having all the baby's hygiene items organized and at hand is a practicality that makes all the difference in daily life. Assemble a kit with a thermometer, nail clippers, nasal aspirator, tweezers, hairbrush, cotton, cloth diapers for cleaning, and the baby's personal hygiene products. This prevents you from running around during bath time or diaper changes, making everything calmer and more efficient.

Criz Pezzo transforms this idea into reality with personalized kits that combine practicality and delicacy.

6. Side table

It may seem like a detail, but the side table is an unsung hero in the nursery. Imagine: you're in the armchair breastfeeding, your baby has finally fallen asleep in your arms... and the water bottle is on the other side of the room. A side table next to the armchair is the solution! On it, you can leave water, a snack, your cell phone, a book, the baby monitor, and everything else needed during those moments of rest and care for the baby. It's synonymous with convenience, you see?

7. Nursing Armchair

Ah, the nursing armchair! This is not just a piece of furniture, it's a safe haven. It will be the place for countless feedings, lullabies, sleepless nights, and moments of pure comfort between parent and baby. Therefore, investing in a comfortable armchair, with armrests and, if possible, one that reclines or rocks, makes all the difference for your well-being and the little one's. And, as we mentioned, we have wonderful news coming: the Afetto Nursing Armchair arrives in October! Get ready to discover a model that will combine ergonomic comfort and a design that perfectly matches your dream nursery.

8. Nursing pillow

The nursing pillow is another great ally for mothers. It helps position the baby correctly at the breast, preventing back, shoulder, and neck pain for the mom. In addition, it offers extra and comfortable support for the baby. But its usefulness doesn't stop there! It can be used as support for a pregnant belly during sleep, as protection around the baby when lying on the floor, and later, as a sitting support. It is a multifunctional and extremely useful item.

9. Baby monitor

Technology for parents' peace of mind! The baby monitor allows you to monitor the baby from another room in the house, whether it's to take a quick shower, have a meal, or take care of other tasks. Current models range from the simplest, with audio, to the most modern, with video, motion sensors, night vision, and even two-way communication (so you can soothe the baby with your voice). It's an item that brings extra security and allows for a necessary break.

10. Laundry hamper

With a baby at home, the amount of clothes, cloth diapers, and swaddles to wash is surprising. Having a laundry hamper exclusively for the baby, preferably with a lid, helps maintain organization and keeps the nursery smelling fresh. Choose a model that matches the decor – there are beautiful wicker, fabric, and plastic options – and that is easy to transport.

11. Mosquito net

Protecting the baby from insect bites is a constant concern, especially in tropical countries like Brazil. The mosquito net is a charming, safe, and chemical-free solution to ensure that the baby's sleep is not disturbed by mosquitoes and other insects. Installed over the crib, it creates an effective physical barrier and also adds a touch of romance and fantasy to the environment, making the room even more special.

12. Mattress

Just like the crib, choosing the mattress is fundamental for the baby's safety and comfort. It should be firm, to reduce the risk of suffocation, and exactly the size of the crib, with no gaps at the sides. The cover should be waterproof and easy to clean, because accidents will happen! Investing in a good quality mattress, with safety certification, is investing in more peaceful nights of sleep for the whole family.

13. Changing pad

Changing diapers is one of the most frequent activities in a baby's routine. Having a specific and safe place for this is a lifesaver for your back. The changing pad can be a standalone piece or, very practically, a movable unit attached to the dresser. The important thing is that it has safety edges and that all necessary items (diapers, creams, wet wipes) are organized within reach, but out of the baby's reach. The child should never be left alone on the changing pad, not even for a second.

14. Trash can

A trash can with a pedal-operated lid is the ideal option for the baby's room. It allows you to dispose of used diapers and other waste hygienically, without having to use your hands to open the lid. Many models also feature an odor-blocking system, which is a true blessing! Having a trash can dedicated to this waste keeps the environment clean and fresh.

15. Wallpaper and frames

It's time to personalize the environment! Wallpaper is an incredible way to create a theme for the room, whether with delicate patterns of clouds, animals, enchanted forests, or modern stripes. Frames, on the other hand, are an opportunity to unleash creativity: you can use illustrations, letters that form the baby's name, affectionate phrases, or family photos. Together, wallpaper and frames define the atmosphere of the nursery, making it unique and full of meaning.

16. Acrylic shelves

Acrylic shelves are both functional and decorative. They serve to display children's books, dolls, picture frames, and other ornaments, bringing life and color to the walls. As the baby grows, these spaces become even more useful for storing their treasures and favorite objects. They are a way to optimize vertical space and add layers of decoration to the room.

17. Cloth dolls

Cloth dolls are more than just toys; they are your child's first friends, confidantes of childhood secrets, and companions on imaginative adventures. They bring visual and emotional comfort to the room. Choose models made of safe, hypoallergenic materials suitable for the baby's age, remembering that for newborns, it's ideal to keep the crib free of any loose objects.

18. Cotton rug

Don't underestimate the power of a fluffy rug in the baby's room! The cotton rug is that detail that transforms the environment, creating a cozy and safe surface for the first rolls, crawls, and playtime on the floor. And when we talk about Afetto's rug, the concern for your baby's well-being goes even further!

Made of organic cotton, our rug is hypoallergenic and completely safe for children's environments, being gentle on the most sensitive skin. Practicality is another feature that will win you over: it is machine washable, keeping the room hygienic without complications, and incredibly durable, to accompany every stage of your little one's growth.

And, so that the rug is the perfect complement to your dream room, it is available in 25 customizable colors! This way, you can choose the shade that perfectly harmonizes with your chosen palette, creating an environment full of personality.

We hope this checklist helps you organize your ideas and set up your baby's dream room with more calm and security. Remember: the most important thing is that this environment is a reflection of your love, a safe, cozy place full of good energy to welcome your greatest gift.

And don't forget: we are here at Afetto, rooting for you and preparing incredible new products to make this moment even more special. See you in October with the crib and armchair that will steal your hearts!
